A monstrous cross between a giant owl and a bear. These massive predators are the terror of many a forest, combining the raw strength and ferocity of a bear with the keen senses and sharp beak of an owl.
Notoriously aggressive and ferociously territorial, Owlbears attack perceived threats without provocation, emitting a terrifying, hissing screech. They typically make their lairs in caves or ruins, hunting large animals and leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. An Owlbear's thick hide, dense fur, and solid muscle make it incredibly resilient, rendering it nearly impossible for an ordinary combatant to defeat. They will not approach humanoid settlements unless driven by extreme hunger, but any who wander into their territory are considered fair game.
This creature can be replicated using the Polymorph or Summon spell.
In this template, "DC" refers to the caster's spell DC. Values marked with XX are variable and must be calculated using the caster's level (CL) and the spell's power level by referring to the table below.
To calculate a variable stat, multiply the value from the table by your caster level (e.g., for a Level 5 Polymorph cast by a Level 10 caster, HP = 24 * 10 = 240).
Owlbear, Large Beast Speed: XX ft HP: XX DR: XX (Damage Reduction) Saves: Reflex DC, Fortitude DC + 10%, Will DC
Attacks:
Owlbear Screetch Once per round, an Owlbear can unleash a terrifying screech that scares creatures for one turn on a failed Will Save. Scared creatures cannot attack more than once per tick, and cannot cast spells. Affected creatures are then immune to this ability for 24 hours.
