The Summon Earth Elemental spell allows you to call forth a mighty earth elemental to assist you in battle and other endeavors. The earth elemental is a powerhouse of physical strength and durability, making it an ideal ally for situations that demand brute force and resilience.
If cast in an area with abundant earth or stone, such as a mountain or deep underground, the spell becomes a Transmutation spell, reducing the casting time to two ticks. Without such conditions, the spell functions as a Conjuration spell, taking three ticks to cast.
The Earth Elemental's Will Save is equal to its spell DC - 10.
The caster can also produce multiple earth elementals by opting to conjure weaker ones. If the caster selects a weaker level, they will conjure 2 earth elementals, with a 50% chance of conjuring a third. If the caster opts to conjure elementals two levels below, they will conjure 4 of them, with a 50% chance of conjuring one more, and so on.
Earth Slam: Starting at level 2, the Earth Elemental can slam the ground with immense force, causing a shockwave in a 10 ft radius around it, knocking opponents prone. The radius increases by 5 ft per additional level. Affected creatures must make a STR or DEX check against the Earth Elemental’s STR check to avoid being knocked prone.
Earth Shield: At level 4, the Earth Elemental can create a barrier of solid stone as a fast action. This ability acts like the Wall of Stone spell, allowing the elemental to shape the earth into protective walls or obstacles, with the wall's size increasing with the elemental's level.
Earth Fighting: Unlocked at level 6, the Earth Elemental can burrow through the ground at twice its normal movement speed. If it performs a surprise attack by emerging from the ground, the attack is an automatic critical strike. Additionally, the Earth Elemental now adds 150% of its STR to its damage, reflecting its immense power when fighting in its natural element.
Earth Tentacles: Available at level 8, the Earth Elemental can summon tentacles of solid rock from the ground. The number of tentacles equals the spell's caster level. Each tentacle makes an attack roll using the elemental's STR and deals the elemental's full attack damage. This ability can be used once per turn, and the tentacles remain for 1 round per caster level.
Turn to Stone: At level 10, the Earth Elemental can attempt to transmute its enemies into stone in a 30 ft radius around it. Creatures within the area must make a Fortitude save against the spell's DC or be turned to stone permanently. This ability can only be used once per minute, making it a powerful but sparing weapon in the elemental's arsenal.
