Restoration is a versatile healing spell that targets a creature's body, working to remove negative effects and debuffs. This powerful magic can counteract a wide range of harmful conditions, including stuns, paralysis, ability damage, fatigue, save penalties, perception debuffs, and movement speed reductions. When Restoration is cast at a level similar to the opposing spell (at most 1 level difference), it removes the negative effects completely. However, when trying to remove the effects from a much higher-level spell than Restoration, it can only shorten the duration of the effects by 50%.
One of Restoration's key advantages is its reliability. There's no need to perform DC checks; the spell simply works within its power range. This makes it often the most appropriate spell to use for removing negative effects. However, countering high-level spells requires using high-level spell slots or potent alchemical potions, which can be resource-intensive. As a result, powerful mages may sometimes opt to use Dispel Magic instead when facing particularly strong curses or enchantments.
At higher levels, Restoration evolves into a short-lived aura that continuously counters debuffs within its area of effect.
